Cropping is helpful when a PDF has scanner borders, oversized margins, printer marks, dark edges or extra whitespace around the content. This crop PDF tool lets you set top, right, bottom and left margins and applies the resulting crop box to every page in your browser. You can preview the crop guide on the first page before downloading the new file, and the source PDF never leaves your device. The preview uses pdfjs-dist to render the first page locally, while pdf-lib updates the final PDF.
Millimeters or percent
Millimeters are useful when you know a physical margin size, such as trimming 10 mm from each edge of a scanned page. Percent is convenient when pages vary in size or when you want a quick proportional crop, such as removing five percent from every side. The crop values are applied to all pages, so choose settings that work for the whole document. If the first page is unusual, check the downloaded PDF carefully before replacing your original. Because the processing is client-side, there are no uploads, queues, file retention policies or account requirements.
What cropping changes
This tool sets the PDF crop box. It does not run image analysis, deskew scans or permanently erase hidden content outside the visible area. Some advanced editors may still show or recover material beyond the crop. For everyday reading and printing, however, a crop box is a fast and reliable way to hide unwanted borders and make pages fit better on screen or paper. Keep the original PDF until you have opened the cropped download and confirmed that no important content was hidden by the selected margins.
If a document has pages with very different orientations or margin sizes, crop a copy and inspect several representative pages before sharing it. A single crop setting is intentionally simple and predictable, but it may not be perfect for mixed scans. You can always return to the original PDF and rerun the tool with smaller margins.
