Split PDF Online
Extract a page range from a PDF into a new file. Free, private and fully browser-based with no uploads.
🔒 Runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploadedExtract the pages you need
A long PDF often contains more pages than you want to share. You might need a single chapter from a handbook, a few pages from a contract, a receipt from a monthly statement or a section of a scanned packet. This split PDF tool lets you choose a page range and create a new PDF containing only that part. The original file is not edited, overwritten or uploaded.
Everything happens locally in your web browser. When you choose a file, pdf-lib reads the PDF from your device, copies the selected page objects into a new document, and triggers a normal browser download. Because the file never leaves your computer, this workflow is well suited to confidential paperwork, financial records, internal documents and personal forms that should not be sent to a third-party server just to remove extra pages.
Common uses for splitting PDFs
Splitting is handy before emailing large files, uploading only the pages a form requests, or saving a reusable excerpt from a larger manual. It can also make review easier: instead of asking someone to find pages 37 through 42 inside a large report, you can send a focused PDF with just those pages. Smaller files open faster, are easier to archive and reduce the chance that unrelated information is shared by accident.
How page ranges work
Page numbers use the same one-based numbering you see in most PDF readers. A range of 1-3 copies the first, second and third pages. A single number such as 5 extracts only that page. Before splitting, open the PDF in a reader if the document has cover pages, roman numerals or unnumbered inserts, because printed page labels may not match the actual PDF page order. Keep the original file as your master copy and use the split output for sharing, filing or uploading.
