Convert PDF pages to lossless PNG

PNG is the right format when you want crisp text and sharp lines without JPEG artefacts. This PDF to PNG converter renders pages from your document as lossless images that you can drop into slides, design tools, web pages or bug reports. Everything happens in your browser: pdf.js draws each page onto a canvas and the canvas is encoded as a PNG file on your device.

Resolution, page range and transparency

The resolution option sets how many pixels each PDF point is rendered to. PDF pages use 72 units per inch, so 72 DPI gives a 1x image, 144 DPI gives 2x and 300 DPI produces print-ready detail. Higher values create larger files and need more memory; if a page would exceed the browser's canvas limits the tool reduces the scale automatically. Use the Pages field to convert only what you need, for example 1-3, 5. The transparent background option skips the white fill, so anything the PDF does not paint, such as a logo or a diagram on a plain page, stays transparent and can be placed on any colour.

Downloading the results

A single page is saved as one PNG. When several pages are selected, the tool bundles the images into a ZIP file so you do not have to accept a dozen separate downloads. PNG data is already compressed, so the archive stores the files as they are, which makes it fast even for long documents. If you prefer individual files, switch the download option and each page will arrive as name-page-001.png, numbered in order.

Because the PDF is never uploaded, the converter works for contracts, statements and other private material. Open a couple of the images afterwards to confirm that small text is sharp enough; if not, rerun with a higher DPI. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.

Frequently asked questions

Does PDF to PNG upload my file?
No. pdf.js renders each page on an HTML canvas in your browser and the PNG files are created locally.
How do I get a transparent background?
Tick Transparent background. Areas that the PDF does not paint stay transparent instead of white. Pages with a full-page background colour or scanned image will still look opaque.
Which DPI should I use?
72 DPI equals the PDF's natural size, 144 DPI is sharp on high-density screens and 300 DPI suits print. Very large pages are scaled down automatically to stay within browser canvas limits.
How can I convert only some pages?
Enter page numbers and ranges such as 1-3, 5 in the Pages field. Leave it empty to convert every page.
Are several pages downloaded as a ZIP?
By default yes: multiple pages are bundled into one ZIP built in your browser. You can switch to separate PNG files instead. A single page downloads as one PNG.
