Fix sideways PDF pages

Scanned documents, phone captures and mixed-orientation packets often contain pages that face the wrong direction. A sideways signature page or upside-down receipt makes a PDF harder to read, print and review. This rotate PDF tool lets you turn every page, or only selected pages, by 90, 180 or 270 degrees and download a corrected copy.

The rotation is handled locally with pdf-lib. Your browser opens the PDF from your device, updates page rotation metadata, saves a new PDF and starts a download. No file upload is involved, which is especially important for contracts, identity documents, medical paperwork, financial statements and other files that should not pass through an unknown server just to fix orientation.

Rotate all pages or selected pages

If the entire document is sideways, leave the pages field empty and choose the angle that makes the pages upright. If only a few pages need correction, enter page numbers or ranges such as 1,4-6. Page numbers start at 1. This is useful for scan batches where most pages are portrait but a table, receipt or appendix was captured in landscape and needs a separate turn.

What to check after rotating

Open the downloaded PDF before sending it onward. Most readers honor PDF rotation metadata immediately, but documents made from unusual scans can sometimes include page images that were already embedded at an angle. If a page still appears wrong, rotate it again by another 90 degrees and save a new copy. Keep the original PDF unchanged as a backup, and use the rotated file for sharing, printing or uploading wherever a readable orientation matters.

Rotation is also useful before combining documents. Correcting sideways pages first makes a merged packet feel consistent from beginning to end, and it prevents reviewers from having to turn individual pages while reading. Because this tool creates a new file, you can test different page selections without damaging the source document.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate only some pages?
Yes. Leave the page box empty to rotate every page, or enter pages and ranges such as 1,3-5.
Is the rotation permanent?
The tool downloads a new PDF with updated page rotation metadata. Your original file is not changed.
Are files processed on a server?
No. The PDF is read and saved in your browser with pdf-lib, so it is never uploaded.
Why do some pages still look sideways in another app?
Most PDFs use rotation metadata that readers honor. Rare scanned files may contain images that were embedded sideways before the page metadata was set.
